For bars subjected to direct tension, the minimum overlap length of bars (including anchorage value of hooks) shall be of the following:
- 30 times diameter of bar i.e. , 30⌀
- 2 times the development length i.e. , 2 L𝒹.
For bars subjected to direct compression, the minimum overlap length of bars (including anchorage value of hooks) shall be of the following:
- 24 times diameter of bar i.e. , 24⌀
- Development length i.e. , L𝒹.
